Is “ready many” a typo for “read many”?

In June, the Society of National Association Publications (SNAP) is holding the first of its two semi-annual conferences (this one in Washington, DC; in November, one follows in Chicago). With Bob Kelly of the American Physical Society, I’m preparing a breakout session entitled, “Write Once, Read Many: Creating, Managing and Distributing Agile Content”.
Building on Bob’s extensive experience and the work of last year’s StartWithXML project, the session is designed to present associations with ideas that can help them shift from a well-established print metaphor to one that embraces opportunities made capable by the internet. Despite conventional wisdom, content is NOT too expensive, but often it is too narrowly deployed.
To address this challenge, association publishers are finding ways to develop “agile content” that can be used and reused across magazines, journals, books, websites, blogs and more. We expect that those attending this session will learn: how agile content can support cross-platform use and re-use; how changes in process, technology and structure make agile content possible; and what an association can do now to help build its content agility.
We’re looking for examples of ways that associations have rebuilt their publishing operations to showcase content agility. Comment here, or feel free to contact me via phone or e-mail. Thanks in advance.
